University Area Commission | Governance Committee Report

Meeting Details: Wednesday September 2 2015, Northwood and High Building, Started 6:05 PM and Ended 7:15 PM

  1. Confirmed the dates and voting locations for the upcoming UAC elections
    • Reviewed and suggested changes to the packet cover letter
    • All information will be posted to the Universityarea.org
  2. Discussed feedback on proposed by law changes which were read at the August UAC Full Commission meeting and returned to Committee for more work. Specifically to make it clear by when this should be done and why.
    • The Committee had lengthy discussion to mold the language to help make the language clear, following is the revised language.
  • Proposed Changes:
  1. By September 1, the Corresponding Secretary shall notify in writing all represented organizations defined in Article II, Section 1(b) that the term of their membership shall end at the start of the annual meeting. The organization should appoint in writing a representative to the Commission for the new term by October 31, to enable the Commission to file materials with the City of Columbus and to allow the new appointment to begin their term at the beginning of the annual meeting.
  2. By September 1, the Corresponding Secretary shall publicly announce the call for nominations from organizations defined in Article II, Section 1(c) to nominate in writing a representative from their group by October 31 to enable the Commission to vote on nominees allowing them to begin their term at the start of the annual meeting.
  • Revised the original language brought to the August Commission meeting.
  • Next month this change will be voted on by the Committee to move forward to the Commission.

 

Next meeting is October 7, 2015 at 6:00 PM in Room 100 of the Northwood & High Building
